GlobalCapital Life Insurance promoting road safety through free portable breathalysers

As part of alcohol awareness month GlobalCapital are providing free portable breathalysers to encourage greater awareness in Malta about the dangers of drinking and driving and to support better education on the impact that alcohol has on health. The breath alcohol tester comes attached to a keychain making it convenient for local motorists to use at any time; it has three alcohol test steps, green, yellow and red, with an LED indicator quickly showing drivers if they are above or below the safe limit.

"Alcohol is the single most used and abused drug in Malta," says GlobalCapital Marketing Manager Lara Degiorgio. "Apart from risky drinking patterns that could lead to alcohol problems, the costs to society in terms of lost productivity, health care costs, traffic accidents, and personal tragedies are staggering. Alcohol is a major factor in injuries, both at home, at work, and on the road. Nearly half of all traffic fatalities involve alcohol. That's why we decided to focus on road safety this year and provide the free portable breathalysers, if it helps just one person then this effort will be worthwhile."

Ms. Degiorgio is running a social media campaign for all GlobalCapital Facebook fans that includes health and lifestyle advice on alcohol.
